Culture Is Everywhere.

Today's challenges transcend disciplines, institutions, and sectors, existing within a rich cultural context that shapes our understanding and actions.

Artists absorb, process, and refract culture, developing unique sensibilities and skills in the process of creating art. As cultural professionals, their expertise is relevant to all human endeavors. Collaboration with artists can bring fresh perspectives to our most pervasive challenges. Testimonials at the bottom of this page provide real-world examples.

But sustainable and transformative collaboration requires robust, long-term support structures. Hybrid Arts addresses this need by collaborating with organizations across sectors to design strategies for enduring cross-sector engagement, empowering artists to initiate innovative partnerships, and curating museum programs that elevate creative collaboration.

Through these efforts, Hybrid Arts weaves cultural thinking into the very fabric of society.

Hybrid Arts’ founder:
Boris Oicherman, PhD

I am an artist, curator, grants administrator, engineer... I've always had a hard time responding to the "what do you do" question. What's your field of engineering? (Color Science...?) What art medium? (Conditional art...?) What do you curate? (Creative collaborations...?)

Answering a "simple" question with a conversation seemed the only way. It took me some years to realize that I'm having a hard time with having to segregate my work into fields, media, disciplines. I also had a hunch that artists can attach themselves to any other field, have conversations with all other professionals.

So, I thought, this incredible freedom of artists can catalyze collaborations across all boundaries, and perhaps—one day—pave the way for a more integrated, holistic society.

Whatever my job title is, I'm an artist, and this is the work I do.
